I'm looking back at my old Primary school here with my children from our home in New Zealand! Its brought back many happy school memories in the 1970's. Mr. Eldridge was a wonderful head teacher, and we all thought he was great! Also Miss Smith was the ever patience New Entrance teacher. My eldest children are now teenagers, but Charlie is only 9 and goes to a very similar country school here in Tauwhare. Best wishes to anyone who would remember me! Anne-marie

Hi. I attended Miserden School from 1961 when Miss Ashley was Head. Our family lived in Wishanger. I then went on to Stroud High. It is lovely to remember the school and the happy times I had there. Good luck with the web site.

Wow ,how Miserden has changed! I taught class 2 from October 1983 to the following Easter on a Maternity cover while Mr.Gray was Head.I was based in the dining hall close to the playground. The present snowy weather reminded me of the many tricky journeys I had to school during that short period.I've enjoyed looking at your website while on my half term.

A very long time ago (!) I was born and lived in the village - down towards "The Park" from the Carpenters Arms. I attended your school from 1934 until 1942 and then went on o Stroud Technical College (as it was then). In those days our head teacher was Mrs North and she had just one assistant. There were about 15-20 pupils altogether until 1939 when we became host to several evacuees from London. Then the Village Hall became a sort of makeshift annex for the extra pupils. I have always valued my start in life at Miserden and the elementary education which I received at the school. There is so much I could write about those days but this is perhaps not the place - I just wanted to say how great it is to have found this website. Brings back many memories. If by chance anyone from those early days sees this please get in touch. Thanks. Tony Harrison.sW

My family and I lived in England for a year back in 1979, I was 9 years old. We lived in Whiteway and I went to Miserden. We had a great time. It is great to see pictures of the school. I have such great memories of England and of Miserden. I now live in Santa Barbara, California, USA and am 34 years old. I would love to take a vacation (or as you would say, holiday) in England again. I will be sure to stop by Miserden.

| vivienne edwards | 11 March 2004 00:00:00 |
I came on your website just by chance. I was a pupil at Miserden school in the '50's. I could not tell from the pictures if it was the original school building or not. We only had two classrooms then. The "big kids" were upstairs, next to the attic! Miss McDonald was principal and also our teacher. It brought back such happy memories. I have lived in the USA for 28 years and am now in Oregon.
