Our School

Miserden School is situated on the edge of the village of Miserden amongst the woods and fields of the Miserden Estate.  It is a traditional village school with a family atmosphere, serving the village of Miserden together with the surrounding villages and hamlets.  This small rural primary school caters for children between 4 and 11 years.

The school was founded in 1842 and moved to its present site in 1914.  Since then it has continued to grow and develop in response to changing needs and priorities.  There are three large permanent classrooms as well as a large sports hall and library area.  There are also offices and a small room used for cooking and special educational needs.

The school has a Church of England Foundation and seeks to provide high quality education for all its pupils within the context of the Christian faith and practice.  Relationships with parents are valued and there is a strong tradition of parental support and involvement in the life and work of the school.

At present there are 54 children on roll aged between 4 and 11.  They are taught in 3 classes with approximately 18 children in each class.  At the age of 11 children transfer to secondary schools.

In the last few years the school has been developing a garden area where all the children are involved in growing a variety of fruits and vegetables.  These have been used in school to make leek and potato soup and a vegetable curry thanks to support from parents.
